At the BLMs 2004
The CBLM or Colonel Bengt Ljungquist Memorial Championship Finals takes place in Region 1 each year. In 2004, the BLM was held in Lexington, Virginia.
In 2004, I was fortunate to produce a winner. The horse was Aztec, aka Muggins, owned and ridden by Nancy Olsen. Nancy competed at Training Level Test 3 for Adult Amateurs. The class was huge, with 81 horses, and it lasted most of the day. Nancy was one of the last to go and she had a flawless ride. When she exited the arena I told her not to untack Muggins because I knew she would be in the ribbons.

Well, she was called up and on our way to the indoor arena for the awards ceremony, a friend came running up to congratulate us on our win. We had no idea how well Aztec and Nancy had done! They won the class with a score of 69.167%. What a thrill!

Aztec resided at High Point Farm for almost two years. I rode him for Nancy five days a week and she would come one or two days each week for lessons on him. Nancy and I showed Muggins throughout 2004. I showed him at first level and she showed at training level. I finally topped him off at second level with a win at Morvan Park in 2005 before Nancy took him home.
